If you’re outside the McGilvra zone, Seattle Public Schools has made it easier to apply beyond your neighborhood school and we’re happy to help you navigate that process.

How to Enroll
Live in the Neighborhood?
If you live within the McGilvra Elementary attendance area, you may enroll your student at any time. Registration for the following academic year usually begins during the first week of January. For the most up-to-date information, visit the SPS enrollment website.
Considering School Choice?
Seattle Public Schools offers an Open Enrollment and School Choice program for families who would like their student to attend a school outside their attendance area. McGilvra has a number of current families who were accepted through this program.
SPS lists 2026–27 School Choice as closed. Check the district’s current guidance for the next application window and eligibility. Dates are set by SPS.
